Arnold Enklaar (1957) graduated in classical archaeology and philology at Leyden university and did his Phd at the university of Amsterdam. As a result of his stays in Egypt (from 1982 onwards) he gradually turned his interest more towards cultural differences and integration issues. In 2005 he founded with Faruk U\u00e7ar the U\u00e7ar & Enklaar agency that is specialized in coaching and consultancy in the field of cultural differences, integration and ethnic diversity in organizations. In 2007 Enklaar published the book Nederland tussen nut en naastenliefde. Op zoek naar onze cultuur<\/em> (\u201cThe Netherlands between utiliy and charity. In search of our culture\u201d). On the basis of several years of study he describes the twelve values, deeply rooted moral principles, that explain thinking and behaviour of the Dutch. The last ten years Enklaar\u2019s research was concentrated on ethnic diversity in organisations, which resulted in the book Succes in een vreemd land <\/em>(‘Succes in a new country’) dealing with the factors of succes or failure of immigrants. Currently he is a senior associate researcher at the University of Twente, lecturing on ethnic diversity, Dutch culture and cultural differences in international management. In this last field he started in 2020 the research project ‘One market, many cultures’, aiming at mapping the cultural differences between European countries.
